The RCI Visual Arts program offers courses for students in grade 9-12, including art with an Indigenous focus at the grade 9 level. Additionally, there is a wide range of rich extra-curricular opportunities for art students, encouraging them to get involved beyond the classroom.

Grade 9 students explore Indigenous content, with a number of valuable hands-on learning experiences and workshops facilitated by community elders.

Students contribute to school culture and spirit with opportunities such as the completion of murals and participation in art shows celebrating the arts at RCI.

An extra curricular art club invites students in all grades, including are grade 7 and 8 intermediate students, to pursue their artistic interests. In both visual arts courses and extra-curricular projects, there is a strong focus on leadership opportunities and community partnerships. This includes collaborations with our feeder schools and elementary students, through student lead art workshops and community paint nights. These collaborations build confidence and leadership in RCI artists and inspire younger students to pursue the arts.

Visit RCI Social Media Pages to see many more student examples of visual art.
