Statement Concerning Significant Winter Event

Posted on Tuesday February 12, 2019

Extreme and/or inclement weather events are taken seriously, especially as they relate to student and staff safety.

As such, we are closely monitoring a significant winter storm that is forecasted to arrive in our District this afternoon and remain until tomorrow morning. We will continue to do so for the remainder of the day and throughout the evening.

We are in contact with the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board and the Renfrew County Joint Transportation Consortium in an effort to coordinate an announcement, if necessary.

Communication between all three parties will continue today and into this evening.

In the event that this winter storm brings weather that is too dangerous to keep schools open, a system wide closure notice will be issued by the District by 6:00 am tomorrow (February 13, 2019). The closure directive will affect all schools and all plant sites, the Mary Street Education Centre and the District head office. School sites with a daycare/child care centre may be affected so parents/guardians are encouraged to contact their provider.

This notice will be posted to our District’s Facebook and Twitter accounts and will be posted on the District homepage as well as each school homepage. Our media partners will also be notified of our decision.
