RCI students perform Rest in Peace

As one of the largest festivals of its kind, the Sears Drama Festival provides students and teachers from across the county the opportunity to create new and exciting theatre to share with their peers, families, friends and communities. Learning takes place through professional adjudication, workshops, observation and animated discussions with peers.

The Festival provides a showcase for participants to demonstrate their unique drama work. It brings together students, teachers, theatre professionals, and community members to view, discuss, critique and enjoy each other's creative efforts, under the guidance of experienced adjudicators. Fostering respect, excitement, understanding and artistic development are some of its major aims as well as inspiring team work, problem solving, literacy and entrepreneurship.

This year students from Renfrew Collegiate Institute submitted their production, "To Rest in Peace", written and directed by RCI student Taryn Cameron.

They also took home three awards:

  • Award of Excellence for Writing/ Directing/ Design - Taryn Cameron
  • Award of Merit for Acting - John Bossy and Willow McGregor
  • Award of Merit for Acting - Jacob Johnston, Katie Coupal, Niki Nagy, Meredith Abraham, and Britney Megrath

Well done!
